Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart condition common to several exotic breeds to include Sphynx cats. The walls of the heart become thickened, making it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively. This condition is often hereditary and can lead to heart failure if not managed. While some cats may show no symptoms, others can experience difficulty breathing or lethargy, so regular heart screenings are essential for early detection.
- Texoma Sphynx coordinates HCM clinics through Dr. Thomason, DVM, DACVIM of Tau Veterinary Cardiology and Consulting LLC.
- Clinics are held once, sometimes twice, a year by appointment only.
- Each HCM scan is $250-275
- Payment must be made in cash the day of the appointment.

Reviews from Our Sphynx Families
“Texoma Sphynx was hands down phenomenal. I couldn’t imagine going through the process with anyone else. Fantastic communication, with updates regularly about your babies. The overall care and love they give was special. They answered our questions and gave us knowledge about the breed. 10/10 recommend! You will definitely be in good hands and so will your future baby!!”

“Purchased a kitten a little over a year ago. She is the best socialized and healthy baby I have ever owned. Texoma Sphynx is still my go to with any questions. They are the most supportive breeders I have ever dealt with. Will never purchase or recommend anyone else. Mavis is the best! This is not like most breeders. They are dedicated to the breed! And believe me it shows!!! Thank you Texoma Sphynx!”

“We have adopted 2 cats from Texoma, and my daughter has adopted a retired queen. The process was easy and effortless throughout everything. From the day we started til the day we met to pick up, we got weekly updates, sometimes more, and if we had questions, they were quickly answered. The cats were well taken care of and very healthy, and continue to be healthy. They are an amazing family and great breeders, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to adopt a sphinx
